Quadriceps and patellar tendinitis are common overuse injuries in athletes. While first-line treatments include physical therapy and NSAIDs—followed by PRP or corticosteroid injections for persistent symptoms—some refractory cases remain unresponsive. Recent clinical evidence, including cases from National Cheng Kung University Hospital, suggests that Genicular Arterial Embolization (GAE) is an effective microinvasive alternative. By targeting abnormal hypervascularity in the tendons, GAE successfully alleviates chronic pain and improves knee function when conservative and injectable therapies fail.
